Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon

September 28th, 2008 by Debbie's World of Books

Just finished up this book.  I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.  I have never read one of Kenyon’s books before so it’s always nice to find a new, good author.  It was long though.  Not used to reading what is basically a romance story that is over 700 pages long.  The main characters are the goddess Artemis, Acheron who is a Atlantean god who was placed in a human body by his mother to save his life and Tory the human woman he eventually falls in love with.  It broke my heart reading about the suffering Acheron had to go through and when his sister and nephew were killed I was near tears.  Artemis was a real b*tch and I have to really hand it to Acheron and Tory for not killing her.  I must be a horrible person but I would not be able to resist after all she did to Acheron.  The worst part is she doesn’t ever learn that what she did was wrong.  At the end of the book she is still talking about how she got screwed and has no friends.  Gee, I wonder why?

It was fun to hear the story of how they account for the disappearance of Atlantis.  I never really thought of a story of it basically coming down to one set of gods/godesses vs. another set.
