Something Different: Little Hoot by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

August 18th, 2011 by Debbie's World of Books

I’ve been keeping most of my children’s book reviews on a different blog but now with the second child and craziness at work I just don’t have time to maintain both blogs.  So please forgive me if I slip in a children’s book review or two in here and there.  We just made a trip to the library and picked up some great new books for my daughter’s bed time routine.  We already own Little Pea by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and it’s been one our favorites for awhile.  So when I saw this one on the library book shelf I quickly snatched it up.  It’s so fitting to read at bed time because it’s about a baby owl whose problem is the complete opposite of the dilemma most parents and children face at bed time.   His parents won’t let him go to bed until he plays for another hour.  He begs and begs to go to bed like his other friends and tries to find things to fill up one hour.  It cracks my daughter and I up because my daughter is constantly trying to come up with excuses to come up later and instead it’s the parent owls who are using those excuses to keep their baby owl up.  I definitely would suggest this one to other parents and kids who are always trying to push back bed time.  Such a fun read.
