Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome people at The Broke and the Bookish

This week’s topic is: Top Ten Series I Haven’t Finished (because either you didn’t like them, you just have procrastinated, etc.

  1. Matched by Ally Condie
Matched by Ally Condie: I fell in love with this cover and had to read it but unfortunately it just didn’t catch my attention so I never bothered with the next book.
  2. Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
Study series by Maria V. Snyder: I absolutely adored this book but the second book was just ok and I have not made it to the last book yet.  I really do mean to one day!
  3. The FOrest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
Forest of Hands and Teeth series by Carrie Ryan: This is another one I enjoyed the first book but for some reason was not in a rush to read book 2.  I have it sitting on my shelf so maybe one day.
  4. Nightshade by Andrea Cremer
Nightshade series by Andrea Cremer: I was so in love with book 1 and could not wait to get my hands on Wolfsbane.  Then Wolsfbane seriously ticked me off with the Shay-centric storyline and then I heard a spoiler about Bloodrose and refuse to read it now.
  5. Marked by PC Cast
House of Night series by P.C. & Kristin Cast: I have absolutely no intention on finishing this series.  I read up to book 4 and it made me want to scream it was so bad.
  6. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris: I really enjoyed this series until about book 8 or 9 and it started getting pretty ridiculous and repetitive so I gave up on it.
  7. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series by Stieg Larsson: After the first couple hundred pages I really got into book 1 and meant to dive into the next book but just never got to it.
  8. Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn
Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn: This is another series like the Sookie Stackhouse books that I was really enjoying the series but it starting losing its spark for me. I stopped around book 5 or 6 and honestly have no clue or interest if there were more books.
  9. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
Wicked Lovely series by Melissa Marr: I have to admit fairy stories haven’t managed to really grab me. In fact, the only one I’ve stuck with is Julie Kagawa’s.  I made it through two books in this one before giving up.
  10. Wake by Lisa McMann
Wake series by Lisa McMann: I loved Wake and Fade but never could get into the third book, Gone, and I finally gave up on it.

That’s it. There are some other series I started but haven’t decided if I will ever go back to or not. There are just too many good books out there to stick to a bunch of series I thought were ok but not outstanding.  What about you? What series have you given up on or haven’t had time to go back to?

I’m way behind on the Sookie books. I’ve only read the first 3, I think. I’ve also been reading The Girl Who Played With Fire for about 6 months now… =/

  2. Reading Angel

I did read Gone, but it was disappointing compared to the first 2.

I’ve given up on Sookie too and coincidentally on book 8. The series has started to lose it magic. My Top Ten Tuesday

Ah, I forgot about the Nightshade series. I don’t think I even made it past the first one… Great list – hope you get to finish some of the ones you want to 🙂

The forest of hands and teeth: I freaking love that series! So I would say, pick it up 🙂 The second was okay, but the last one OH MY. It was so good.

I have heard similar complaints about Sookie. It makes me really hesitant to begin a series that I know will probably disappoint me before the end. =\

Greetings from Idaho! I’m bored at work so I decided to browse your site on my iphone during lunch break. I enjoy the knowledge you present here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home.
I’m surprised at how fast your blog loaded on my mobile .. I’m not even using WIFI,
just 3G .. Anyhow, wonderful blog!

I think you should finish the nightshade series it does have a surprising twist but u cant just not read it. It wont work. The ending kind of sucks (no spoilers sorry) but its makes a happy ending in a way. 🙂 you’d be glad/sad (more glad) once you finish it.
