Summary from Goodreads.com: Though DarkRiver sentinel Mercy is feeling the pressure to mate, she savagely resists when Riley Kincaid, a lieutenant from the SnowDancer pack, tries to possess her. The problem is not simply that he pushes her buttons; the problem is that he’s a wolf, she’s a cat, and they’re both used to being on top.

But when a brilliant changeling researcher is kidnapped from DarkRiver territory, Mercy and Riley must work together to track the young man—before his shadowy captors decide he’s no longer useful. Along the way, the two dominants may find that submitting to one another uncovers not just a deadly conspiracy, but a passion so raw that it’ll leave them both branded by fire…

Series: Psy-Changeling #9

Rating: ★★★★☆

Summary from Goodreads.com: In his position as tracker for the SnowDancer pack, it’s up to Drew Kincaid to rein in rogue changelings who have lost control of their animal halves- even if it means killing those who have gone too far. But nothing in his life has prepared him for the battle he must now wage to win the heart of a woman who makes his body ignite… and who threatens to enslave his wolf.

Lieutenant Indigo Riviere doesn’t easily allow skin privileges, especially of the sensual kind- and the last person she expects to find herself craving is the most wickedly playful male in the den. Everything she knows tells her to pull back before the flames burn them both to ash… but she hasn’t counted on Drew’s will.

Now, two of SnowDancer’s most stubborn wolves find themselves playing a hot, sexy game even as lethal danger stalks the very place they call home.

I know I am all out of order when reading this series but I am loving it so much I am reading whatever I can get my hands on even if they aren’t in order.  It was kind of nice reading the two brothers, Riley and Drew’s, stories back to back though.  While reading Brenna’s story Drew intrigued me by Riley didn’t leave that big an impression but now I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite brother!  These two books sort of meshed into one as I dived from one to the other so please bear with me as my review treats them almost as one story.

Mercy often describes Riley as being a stick in the mud, too series and not knowing how to have fun but wow, once you get inside of him he is smokin’ hot!  It tore me apart seeing how scarred he was by not being able to protect Brenna despite the fact that there wasn’t really anything he could have done.  It was great to see him finally coming to terms with everything and letting loose a little as he pursues Mercy.  I liked Mercy but didn’t love her the way I did Sasha, Faith and Ashaya.

I’m afraid to say that I didn’t really care much for Indigo’s character as it could come across that I just do not like the dominant females.  Part of Indigo’s problem for me just may have been that she shoots Drew down so often and comes across like he isn’t good enough for her that it really turned me off.  I get that she is a very dominant female and Drew is younger and lower on the hierarchy which bothers her wolf half but I still didn’t like the feeling that it made Drew seem less than worthy.  I adored him, his sense of humor and the way he looked after the whole pack while doing a job no one could really envy.

The story line and continued world building is what I love about these books.  The power struggle amongst the council members is growing and new alliances are being sought out.  Nikita Duncan, Kaleb Krychek, the Ghost, Vasic and a host of other characters have me intrigued to see where they will fall when war breaks out.  I am really hoping we get to see the Ghost’s story and hopefully a story for Vasic soon not to mention Hawke and Sienna’s story.  I know Hawke claims his mate died but I really can’t see how he and Sienna cannot end up together.

I know I’m sounding like a broken record but you really need to read this series if you haven’t already!
