About the book:

The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.

To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change.

Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of
those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control.

But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?

My Review:

I was so excited to get this book and it sounded so good but it just didn’t quite do it for me. On one hand it really was an addictive read and I didn’t want to stop reading. On the other hand the whole romance aspect of the book bothered me. I just didn’t get why Cal fell for Mare in the first place. That seemed totally out of the blue and I can’t stand insta-romances.

I do think the series has a lot of potential. I tend to really enjoy X-Menish story lines and this book definitely has that feel to it. I can’t wait to start seeing more characters mentioned in the story line take a larger part in book 2. So I’ll have to hold judgment on this series for now.
