About the book:

It is a secret the Chinese government has been keeping for forty years.

They have found a species of animal no one believed even existed. It will amaze the world.

Now the Chinese are ready to unveil their astonishing discovery within the greatest zoo ever constructed.

A small group of VIPs and journalists has been brought to the zoo deep within China to see its fabulous creatures for the first time.

Among them is Dr. Cassandra Jane ‘CJ’ Cameron, a writer for National Geographic and an expert on reptiles.

The visitors are assured by their Chinese hosts that they will be struck with wonder at these beasts, that they are perfectly safe, and that nothing can go wrong.

Of course it can’t…

GET READY FOR ACTION ON A GIGANTIC SCALE.

My Review:

I am such a big Matthew Reilly fan and was surprised when I realized I missed the release of this one. This is the problem with not having a bookstore nearby anymore. My favorite are his Scarecrow books and his Jack West books were a lot of fun but when I read the premise of this one I was a little leery. I did actually end up enjoying this one but I will have to say you really have to suspend any sense of reality when reading Reilly’s books. Yes, things are fantastical and would never work in real life but hey it usually involves stuff blowing up and adds to the action. So keep this in mind. The other thing about this story is basically it’s Jurassic Park but with dragons instead of dinosaurs. The location is different but basic idea is the same, even the opening presentation about the dragons for the main characters is almost the same as Jurassic Park.

Once you get over that this really is a mindless but oh so fun read. It’s like an action movie book. The dragons were really cool and I loved seeing how the dragons planned things out, fought against each other and I adored the dragon, Lucky. CJ was an interesting character and is amazingly good at just about everything and is basically the female version of Scarecrow.

There’s really not much more I can say because it is basically one big action movie. The supporting characters weren’t fantastic yet I couldn’t put it down.

I felt the same way about this one? Not a lot of character development, but great action film! Great quick read.
