Planner Mania

January 16th, 2016 by Debbie's World of Books

So I had given up on New Year’s resolutions for awhile because I never seemed to stick with them but last year was so crazy between work, my kids activities, their school and being roped into a few volunteer things. Not to mention my blogging pretty much fell to the wayside. Soooo when I saw authors, Tawna Fenske and Robin Covington, raving about their Erin Condren planner I was intrigued. I liked their planner images on Facebook but still held off since I already had a planner I picked up from Target. Then I saw more and more people mention how the Erin Condren planner changed their lives. But here was the kicker for me. They cost $50!! So yeah, I was having a hard time wrapping my head around spending that much. I started doing searches on reviews about the planner and stumbled across this whole world of planner addicts on YouTube. I spent way more time than I should admit watching these videos to try and figure out which planner to get. These two videos in particular were extremely helpful.

I loved this comparison between the Inkwell and Erin Condren planners. I had found a lot of people saying they preferred the Inkwell Press planners over the Erin Condren and the Inkwell planners were $60 (mind blown again over pricing!). It made me lean towards the Erin Condren but I wasn’t sure about the 2016 version.

But then I stumbled across this video that showcased the 2015-2016 Erin Condren planner…

Pretty Neat Living walked through the 2015-2016 planner showing what was inside…

I was almost set to order when I started reading comments on the Happy Planner and Plum Planner plus a few folks on Facebook suggested the MAMBI planner (which from what I could tell were the same as the Happy Planners.). And then voila! This video sealed the deal to get the Erin Condren. She gave a quick look at several other planners including the Plum Planner.

Now the idea of spending $50 still made me cringe so when I saw certain Staples carried the Erin Condren planners in store I made the trip to the nearest Staples to me that had them. I was so stinking excited when I found a 2015-2016 Erin Condren planner on sale for just $22.50! Yes, it was January but I ripped out the 2015 pages to make it less bulky and voila. I’ve been using it for 2 weeks now and I haven’t gone sticker crazy like other people I’ve seen but it’s made a huge difference. I got the vertical layout and it’s amazing how much of a difference that has made. In the past all of my planners have been horizontal layouts that didn’t work for me. Now I use one section for all of my kid/personal appts, to dos, etc., the second section for work stuff and the last for my eating/workout stuff. They also have note sections on the sides and bottoms that I’ve been using to plan what dinners I’m cooking throughout the week and on weekends my “work” section is now a “blog” planning section. I hadn’t finished filling it out when I took the photo but this is the basic layout I’m using. I also love this little motivational pages.

I’ve made it through 2 weeks of sticking to my meal plans, workouts and scheduled a week’s worth of blog posts. So far so good! Hope I can keep it up for the rest of the year. If you want to get one of your own you can use my affiliate link here to get $10 off.

Do you use a certain type of planner you love?
