About the book:
Sometimes you find love in the most unexpected of places…
This is not one of those times.
Everyone expects Billie Bridgerton to marry one of the Rokesby brothers. The two families have been neighbors for centuries, and as a child the tomboyish Billie ran wild with Edward and Andrew. Either one would make a perfect husband… someday.
Sometimes you fall in love with exactly the person you think you should…
There is only one Rokesby Billie absolutely cannot tolerate, and that is George. He may be the eldest and heir to the earldom, but he’s arrogant, annoying, and she’s absolutely certain he detests her. Which is perfectly convenient, as she can’t stand the sight of him, either.
But sometimes fate has a wicked sense of humor…
Because when Billie and George are quite literally thrown together, a whole new sort of sparks begins to fly. And when these lifelong adversaries finally kiss, they just might discover that the one person they can’t abide is the one person they can’t live without…
I was so sad when I thought the Bridgerton series was over so there was a lot of squeeing when I heard there was a new book. I thought it was going to be the story of the Bridgerton siblings children but it’s actually a prequel that tells the story of Edmund’s older sister, Billie.
Though I did miss all my favorites from the original books I came to adore both Billie and George. Billie is one of those characters that you can relate to because she’s not perfect. She’s got spunk, has her own flaws and she embraces it all because she acts out of love for those closest to her. George took a little longer to grow on me as he initially came across as stuffy but as he loosens up I came to appreciate his dry wit. I loved seeing the sparks fly between he and Billie and seeing their relationship progress.
My one beef with the story was the ending seemed to happen so quickly and almost felt anti-climatic. Still it was great to be back in the Bridgerton world. I cannot wait for the other Rokesby brothers’ stories as well!
