About the book:

Every red-blooded male in St. Helena wants Harper Owens…as a friend. Despite her efforts at seduction, Harper seems to be destined to end up alone. The only guy with a knack for unleashing her inner vixen is firefighter and resident rule-breaker Adam Baudouin. Agreeing to a faux-mance could help him secure a promotion—and save her family’s lingerie shop, the Boulder Holder. But playing with fire has consequences. Especially when the flame comes courtesy of St. Helena’s own Five-Alarm Casanova…

None of Adam’s quick-and-easy hookups have prepared him for a connection this extraordinary. There’s more to the milk-and-cookies art teacher that he’d love to explore. But first he has to convince her to trust the town’s most notorious playboy. Even tougher—he’ll have to trust himself to be the real-life hero this warm and sexy woman deserves.

My review:

I’ve been a huge Marina Adair fan since I read Kissing Under the Mistletoe and each hero of every book since has carved their own spot in my heart. I have to say though that I think Adam has become my new favorite. First of all, how can you not lot an uber-sexy fire fighter and then toss in that he has a heart of gold that he hides from most of the world and you get the irresistible Adam Baudouin.

Harper was a quirky character who I came to adore with her combination of spunk, a bit of self doubt and determination to do what she can to help others. It cracked me up how she used all of those magazine articles on how to be sexier.

Adam is where it was really at thought for me in this story. We knew he was a playboy based on the previous books in the series but we start to see a whole hidden side to him throughout the book. Each layer he revealed will have you falling deeper and deeper in love with him. It’s not even so much that he is a total sweetheart but the fact that he actively thinks about how the other person is feeling or would be affected by events and then reacts in a way that helps them and protects them even if his own reputation suffers.

There are plenty of laugh out loud moments throughout the book and once you pick it up you won’t be able to put it down. You really need to pick up Need You For Mine and trust me, you won’t regret it.
