Bookmooch and PaperBackSwap-go figure

December 9th, 2008 by Debbie's World of Books

I joined PaperBackSwap awhile back and never could find any of the books I wanted.  So I finally decided today to switch to BookMooch and go figure hours after signing up and listing books on BookMooch I finally get a request filled by PaperBackSwap.  I pretty much duplicated my wish list on both sites so we will see if I can get some of the books I want.

The Friday Night Knitting Club should be on it’s way!  I also have 4 books to mail out for BookMooch requests tomorrow.

do you have to pay for those memberships? Shipping costs? I’m curious…

Membership is free and you pay for media mail shipping when someone requests a book you post. When you ship a book you get credit to request a book from someone else and then they pay the shipping. So basically you are getting a book for about $3 or whatever shipping is. It’s usually a good deal especially if you get one of those books that normally cost like $10-$14. Like Friday Night Knitting Club is $14 regular price.

I’ve signed up for both. Lately, I’ve been getting icky books from PBS, so I’ve had to put down restrictions. The ones I send have only been read once. I was beginning to feel cheated.

In the past, I’ve noticed it runs in spurts and never at the same time. Keep us posted on how you like it.

So far the few books I got from PaperBookSwap have been in good condition. I have Friday Night Knitting Club and Flirting with Forty coming soon from there so hopefully they will be ok.
