Ugh…can't use Book Blogs, Shelfari or Library Thing widgets on WordPress

January 8th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

I was trying to add the Library Thing, Shelfari and Book Blogs widgets but WordPress doesn’t allow them :(  I was able to find a semi-workaround for Library Thing but that only lets me put book titles in my sidebar.  I rather have the one that show cases the book covers.  This totally sucks.  I found a blurb saying WordPress won’t allow javascript because it can be used maliciously but I wish there were a way.  I rather not have to switch to Blogger after finally getting a rhythm going on WordPress.

You can use those things if you were to host your site at your own domain rather than with WordPress.com. I have a WordPress-powered site that is hosted by AN Hosting (don’t like them much though… too much downtime and not the greatest customer support when you need it), and I designed my own site, but you have to have some idea of how websites work if you go that route. Thankfully, I have a computer engineer for a husband ;)

Really? I’ve been meaning to get my own domain considering I work for a web development product. I’ve just been too lazy to research into which is a good one especially since I also want the capability to host php pages. Not to mention lately blogging has sucked up my life :)
