Thou Shalt Not Whine by January Jones

February 1st, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

I give this book a 3 out of 5 stars.

Description: Stop whining–start winning!

It’s not just you. Anyone who goes shopping, watches TV, or has children knows there is a world-wide epidemic of whining that is out of control!

January Jones surveyed a wide cross-section of people to find out why they whine and what they whine about. She used this information to write Thou Shalt Not Whine, a humorous look at why people whine and how to cure it. Whiners come in all shapes, sizes, and ages. January reveals the top ten whines from all age groups and shows you how to deal with them using cures that work. Thou Shalt Not Whine is guaranteed to make you laugh at yourself and others.

The concept of this book caught my interest the first time I read the description.  This was a fun book to read and Jones has a great sense of humor.  Although I would say some of the “advice” is often tongue in cheek about- taking sleeping pills to get through certain situations and other advice offers ideal actions to take but I highly doubt would resolve the situation that is the source of your whining.  There are a few obvious gems that bear reminding such as savor the moment when you complain about never having enough time with the kids or another loved one.

This book will definitely put a smile on your face which will hopefully put you in too good a mood to whine.
