The Struggle: Book II Vampire Diaries by LJ Smith

March 5th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

Like I mentioned in my review for book 1 in the series this is a re-read for me.  I read them over 10 years ago and remember loving them.

I give this one a 4 stars if you are a young adult.

Description: Damon, the evil vampire brother is detemined to make school beauty Elena his queen of darkness. Even if it means killing his own brother to possess her. Stefan, Damon’s brother and Elena’s boyfriend, is desperate for the power to destroy Damon – but knows that means succumbing to his thirst for human blood. Elena, irresistibly drawn to both brothers, knows her choice will decide their fate. But who will she choose…?

This was one of my favorite series when I was in middle school.  Although I was a little disappointed with book 1 when I re-read it I thought this one did better at living up to my expectations.  We get to see more of Damon and the struggle between Damon and Stefan for Elena’s affection.  You cannot help feeling sorry for Matt as he has to watch Stefan adn Elena together.  Although Stefan doesn’t know what they are saying it’s sad to hear Aunt Judith and her boyfriend both disparage Stefan in favor of Damon.  This book definitely leaves you hanging to find out what happens in book 3 and find out which brother Elena will end up with.

okay i love this series!!! but i just want to say that i don’t particularly like damon. in fact, he infuriates me! i love stefan sooo much!! and i really feel bad for him at the end of the last book. elena is kind of stupid at times, but i still like her.
