Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar Series

March 18th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

I love the Valdemar books and I’ve read most of them at least a dozen times.  Since most of them were before I started blogging I wanted to list them and mention which ones were my favorites.  They are listed in the order they take place in history.

Mage Wars-Skandragon’s story (My least favorite, would leave this one to last)

Black Gryphon, White Gryphon, Silver Gryphon

The Last Herald Mage-Herald Vanyel’s story (I’ve reread this series a lot!)

Magic’s Pawn, Magic’s Promise, Magic’s Price

Valdemar: Collegium

Foundation-didn’t like this one at all

Lavan Chitworth’s story

Brightly Burning

Vows and Honor-Kethry and Tarma’s story (not one of my favorites, I’d leave this to one of the last ones to read)

The Oathbound, Oathbreakers and Oathblood

Weaponmaster’s Alberich story.  I enjoyed both of these

Exile’s Honor and Exile’s Valor

Kerowyn’s story (either my first or second favorite book in the series)

By The Sword

Skif’s story-Pretty good but not one of my favorites.

Take a Thief

Queen’s Own Tahlia’s story

Arrows of the Queen (either my first or second favorite book),  Arrow’s Flight, Arrow’s Fall

Mage Winds-Elspeth and Darkwind’s story (only read this one a couple times but gives background for later series)

Winds of Fate, Winds of Change, Winds of Fury

Mage Storms-this is probably the series that I’ve re-read all three books over and over.

Storm Warning, Storm Rising, Storm Breaking

Darien’s Tale-I’ve re-read books 1 & 2 in this series over and over but the third one wasn’t as good to me

Owlflight, Owlsight, Owlknight

Well, I really appreciate this post! I have been planning to start this series forever! Now, I think I am going to go see what books I have and don’t have. :)
