My book reviews, book news & random rants

Friday book haul

March 20th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

Today was a good book day.  Two of my requested books came into the library today and I found one more while browsing:

masquerade

Description from BN.com: Schuyler Van Alen is starting to get more comfortable with her newfound vampire powers, but she still has many unanswered questions. A trip to Italy in search of her grandfather only serves to make things more confusing. What secrets are the leaders of The Committee hiding? Meanwhile, back in New York, preparations are feverishly underway for the famous Four Hundred Ball. In true Blue Blood fashion, the ball is totally fab, complete with masks-and hidden behind this masquerade is a revelation that will change the course of a young vampire’s destiny.

deadgirlwalkingdeadgirl

Description from BN.com: Stars are waiting to be discovered, and high-school senior Amber Borden wants to be the talent agent for the adolescent A-list. She’s not the richest or the most popular, but she’s determined to make a name for herself. While Amber may be upwardly mobile, her sense of direction is lousy—so lousy that it has cosmic consequences. Instead of returning to her body after a near-death experience, she lands in the body of the wealthiest, most popular girl in school—who just tried to commit suicide. Not what she had in mind when she imagined working behind the scenes with the rich and famous! Amber soon figures out that being the queen bee isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

The first in a series, this paranormal page-turner introduces a teen heroine with a unique ability to solve problems from the beyond. Dead is the new black!

bralesswonderland

Description: Allee Rosen is a lot of things: high school senior, overachiever, feminist, brainiac. The one thing she’s not is super model material. She leaves that to pretty people like her little sister (a.k.a. “The Fluff”). That’s why it’s a complete shock when Allee, not her sister, is the one spotted by modeling scouts at the mall and signed by a major modeling agency in Miami.

It’s classic GEEK-to-CHIC  – but it’s not like it’s going to change her right? She’s just doing it for the money that will pay her way through college. Very soon, however, Allee is swept up in the whirlwind of go-sees, designer labels and photo shoots.  Will her elusive “It Girl” status lead Allee to drop her dreams and forget who she really is?

And I also received one book in the mail today from Hachette Book Group:

basbeauty

Description: Everyone in the world, it seems, is either prettier or thinner (or both) than Beauty Marie Zavala. And the only thing “B” resents more than her name is the way others judge her for the extra 40 pounds she can’t lose. At least she has her career. Or did, until she overhears her boss criticizing her weight and devising a scheme to keep her from being promoted. Enter B’s new tax accountant, a modern-day matchmaker determined to boost B’s flagging self-esteem by introducing her to rich, successful men who will accept her for who she is. As B’s confidence blossoms, so do her fantasies of revenge. But will B find true happiness or true disaster when she unwittingly falls for the one guy she shouldn’t?

Not sure which book I will start first.,

You do have a great stack! I just purchased Linda Lael Miller’s second Montana Creeds book, DYLAN. Then I ordered another one from Amazon. I should be ashamed of myself, but I’m not…lol!

I have wanted to read Melissa De La Cruz’s books for a while. I must remember to add her to the library list when it gets a bit shorter.

Yeah, it’s been awhile since I read the first book but my library request list was always full until recently to get the second book.

You always get the best books! I add a lot to my list after visiting your blog. I’m getting B as in Beauty too. It will be awhile before I get to it but it sounds good. Thanks for the recommendations. Keep finding them!
