Masquerade by Melissa De La Cruz

March 25th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

masquerade

I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Description from BN.com: Schuyler Van Alen is starting to get more comfortable with her newfound vampire powers, but she still has many unanswered questions. A trip to Italy in search of her grandfather only serves to make things more confusing. What secrets are the leaders of The Committee hiding? Meanwhile, back in New York, preparations are feverishly underway for the famous Four Hundred Ball. In true Blue Blood fashion, the ball is totally fab, complete with masks-and hidden behind this masquerade is a revelation that will change the course of a young vampire’s destiny.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book.  I thought book 1 was just ok but this one pretty much sucked me in and now I cannot wait to get the next book.  It was a little predictable but the way the story was written will keep the reader hooked to the end.  Mimi is really getting on my nerves though and I would not be upset to see the last of her.  The biggest mystery that I cannot figure out is if Schuyler will end up with Oliver and spurn custom just like her mother or will she end up with Jack and break the bond between he and Mimi.  Can’t wait to find out what happens in the third book.

I thought the first was ok too which is why I still haven’t continued to read this one. I started and stopped at like pg. 10 or so and this was months ago so I don’t even remember what’s going on. But since you say you liked this one, I may just have to pick it up again sooner than later especially since we seem to have similar taste in books. :D

LOL. Yeah, I don’t remember the first one too well either and only read this one because I requested it way back when and it finally came in. Hope you like it better too!

Now I’m curious if the second House of Night book will catch my interest more than Marked did.
