Star Trek the movie

So yes it feels like I am the last person in the world to see the new Star Trek movie.  I have to admit initially I did not want to see the movie since I absolutely love Star Trek and I always worry when they try to cast new actors and actresses for established roles even if they are saying this is when they were younger.  I caved when it got such great reviews and I’ll admit the original wasn’t the one I truly loved (I know don’t hate me!), I preferred TNG and Voyager.  Now having seen it, and I feel like a traitor saying this, it was probably my favorite Star Trek movie.  The action was great, it was funny and I was mostly happy with how the characters were portrayed.  The only thing that seemed weird to me was the interplay between Spock and Uhura.

I thought Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto did a great job in the roles of Kirk and Spock.

The rest of the crew did a great job as well.  I especially liked Karl Urban as Bones.  He had that great mix of sarcasm and loyalty in his friendship with Kirk.  You also get a couple of the classic lines like Scotty’s, “I’m giving you all she’s got, Captain!”.

I would highly recommend this movie to everyone even if you are a die hard Trekkie and were afraid of how they would handle this movie.  I felt like the ending left things perfectly set up to make further movies without having to worry about keeping to the exact story line that was established in the tv series.

I enjoyed it too, for much the same reasons as you it seems. Like you, I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy it – VOY and TNG also being my favourites – but it was excellent. I think you’re right about the ending, too. I heard somewhere that they’re already signed up for a sequel.

Wow, that’s great! I can’t wait to see a sequel.

Yes, they had signed for a sequel before this movie even opened!

I really enjoyed it! I was a little worried, but they pulled it off well. :)

So the question is who was sexier as Kirk? Chris Pine or William Shatner? :)
