Musing Mondays June 8

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about reading time…

Do you have a set reading time (before bed, perhaps)? Do you read more at night or during the day? Is there a day of the week, perhaps, that you set aside to catch up on reading?

I do have a few set reading times through out the week.  I have a long commute to and from work 3 times a week so I spend those train rides reading which gives me a pretty solid 2 hours a day which is great.  On the days I work at home I generally start working as soon as I’m up and done with breakfast so I don’t get as much reading done on those days.  My other set reading time is after my daughter goes to bed but that time is split between reading a book, catching up on book blogs, Twitter, email, etc.  Unfortunately when work picks up I also lose that time as I have to put in some extra hours.  I wish I had more time to dedicate to reading but I have to balance my daughter, work, etc.  Now if I could only be more dedicated to fitting in some exercising time! LOL.

The rest of my reading takes place sporadically.  I try to keep a book with me at all times so if I’m waiting in the doctor’s office or standing in line some where I’ll whip out a book to pass the time.  What about you?  When do you do your reading?

I’m another commute-and-read person as well! I spend two hours of my day commuting, i.e. two hours of my day reading. Like you, on the days I don’t commute, I don’t find much time to read, being caught up with odd jobs and other banalities.

And yes, I too strive to find some extra time to devote to reading… feel quite guilty about how little time I spend reading, at the moment…

    Have a good week =)

I also bring a book with me most of the time. Just in case “free time” suddenly comes up. Though it still depends, especially if I have to attend to my family. Happy Monday!

    Hello there!

Sounds like commuting is the way to go. :)

    Here’s mine.

    Happy reading!

Morning is my most precious reading time. I usually read for two hours before going to work.

I try to keep a book with me all the time, too! You never know when you can squeeze in some good reading time :) It’s caught me by surprise before!

Reading before bed is pretty standard for me… usually until I fall asleep with a book in my hand! I always make sure I have a reading light with me, too… just in case :) I’m random like that!

Begin walking and listening to audio books! I just started doing it this Spring and can’t believe I have not done it sooner.

I was thinking about walking. So far the only audio books I’ve got are on cds though and I don’t have a portable cd player. I need to look into getting them on my mp3 player.

With a full time job I don’t have much opportunity to read during the week. I try to get an hour or so in the evenings in but really my mind isn’t all that clear so I don’t get the chance to really absorb much. The weekends are wehn I have th best opportunity. If I’m in the middle of a particularly compellng book I’ll read throughout the day if not the late afternoon into the evening only.

I wish I had more time to read on the weekends but my daughter is such an early riser that I have to go to bed at a decent hour to be able to wake up with her. sigh. I envy those people whose kids sleep past 6am.
