Bloggiesta Progress Report #1

June 19th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

Hi all you peeps, I’m about to head off so thought I would give a recap of where I am at.  Even with the excuse of having to work all day I still did not get much done on my blog.  And really for all of you new readers my blog normally does not look this bad!  It’s a work in progress right now.

Here was my original list of to-do items:

  • Install Google Analytics
  • Set up some widgets for what am I currently reading, Twitter, Shelfari, GoodReads, LibraryThing (more to come I’m sure)
  • I think I want a new theme so I have to find one I like-I tried, I really did but finding a 3 column one I liked is really hard.  This was a huge time sink and still am not happy with what I have
  • I’ve been meaning to put together a more in depth Review Guidelines
  • I plan on joining the what are you reading meme so I want to get my first post written up
  • Write up my Scholastic Book Sale postDone
  • Work on some interview questions for upcoming blog tours
  • See if I can find a calendar widget or something to post my book tour dates
  • Update my status on all my challenges
  • Participate in the Bloggiesta mini-challenges – completed one challenge so far
  • Just remembered I need to go update my blog url at Book Blogs, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Tecnorati, GoogleReader and who knows where else? – Think I updated every where except Technorati.  Must do that.

Tasks completed that were not on the original list:

  • I backed up my blog just in case
  • Started to sort out my Google Reader

Considering I did manage to get in about 6 hours today I feel like I did not do much.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a more productive day although I forgot we normally do game night with the neighbors so not sure how much/if any time I’ll get in.  Might have to do catch up on Sunday.  Better late than never right?

You did a fabulous job today and I don’t think your blog looks great, not bad at all. I agree with your it’s difficult to find a unique theme that is free. I’ve contracted out to have one custom designed for just that reason. I think you’ve chosen wisely with what you have here so don’t be disatisfied.

Thanks Michelle. I debated paying for a custom theme but I already hired someone to do the transfer to the self-hosted so may have to wait on the theme.

I know exactly how you feel about finding a nice theme. It seemed like I spent forever trying to find the one I have now. I think that your blog looks great though!
