Half Priced Books haul

July 19th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

I had a 50% off one item coupon from Half Price Books for today only.  I had my daughter with me because I was hoping she would fall asleep in the car since she hadn’t had her nap.  Unfortunately she did not so I did not get to spend as much time browsing the book store as I would have liked.  But I still managed to get a pretty good haul.  I think someone must have sold their vampire collection since I saw Blue Bloods, Tantalize, the entire House of Night series and Vampire Academy among other miscellaneous vampire books.  Here is what I managed to snag:

There was a bargain book section where each book was $1 or you could get 10 books for $5.  I initially had 6 books so of course it made more sense to pick up 4 more and get them for $5.

  • Beguiled by Arnette Lamb
  • Dream of Me/Believe in Me by Josie Litton
  • Carriers by Patrick Lynch
  • Seizure by Robin Cook
  • Relic by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
  • Grounded Star Trek: The Next Generation #25 by David Bischoff
  • The Soldiers of Fear Star Trek: The Next Generation by Dean Wesley Smith and Kristine Kathryn Rusch
  • By The Sword by Mercedes Lackey
  • The Captain’s Table: Fire Ship Star Trek: Voyager by Diane Carey
  • Vendetta Star Trek: The Next Generation by Peter David

With the 50% off coupon I picked up Hunted by PC and Kristin Cast.  I was waiting to read this since I finished the rest of the books in the series but didn’t want to buy it new.  So I manged to pick it up for just over $4!  Yay!  I also picked up:

  • Tithe: A Modern Fairy Tale by Holly Black
  • Ender’s Shadow by Orson Scott Card
  • titheendersshadowhunted

Oh and I should mention that I took in some books to be sold so I didn’t have to pay out of pocket for these books.  I still made out about $10 ahead. Talk about an awesome book day!

What a nice haul! I love to see others’ book-buying binges :) I wish there was a Half-Price Books near me – such a wonderful idea. And Relic! That was the first Preston & Child I read – enjoyed it very much.

I know, I didn’t even know about Half Priced Books until I saw a grand opening in a new location add in a local paper. I’m thinking of hunting to see if there are other smaller (or at least non-Borders or Barnes and Nobles) book stores around my area and do a feature post or something.

Relic was also my first Preston and Lincoln books :) I picked up a lot of nostalgia books that I read ages ago and recall liking. Maybe one day I’ll be able to get back to them and write up a review of them.

Well you made quite a haul for a quick visit!

Great haul! My UBS is about 45 minutes plus away for both of them. One I have is half price store, great organizing and all. Then there’s another UBS that’s cheaper but no organizing, so it takes alot to go through. I’ve not been to either in a while due to health, so I hope to get the strength to go because I so miss it. With my kids older, I always take the trip alone. Even with the hubby he ‘looks bored and wants to hurry’ so I do better damage going alone. I remember when kids were younger and bringing them along and only so much you can do, but you did fab!

Oh Caffey, I hope your health improves! It’s so hard to shop w/other people.
