Musing Mondays July 27

Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about online book sites…

Do you have an account with an online book database site (LibraryThing, Shelfari, GoodReads etc)? If so, do you have a preference? Do you use it for – your own record keeping? finding new books to read? social networking?

LOL.  I have accounts with way too many places and can’t really even keep up with them all.  The ones I do log into the most are LibraryThing, Shelfari and GoodReads.  I don’t really have a favorite since they all have their pluses and minuses.  LibraryThing is where I first started off so I probably have the most books listed there since I got lazy about importing my libraries into Shelfari and GoodReads.

I like Shelfari’s chats although they aren’t the busiest.  Shelfari also seems to take the longest to load and sometimes I just can’t get to the site.

GoodReads is where I really keep track of my wish list books.  I just discovered that they have a field where you can put who recommended a book to you.  This is very cool since I usually stumble across new books on book blogs and want to give credit when I actually read them.  Hopefully this feature will help.  GoodReads probably has my favorite forums as well.  It’s a little daunting to keep up though so I’m not in them too often.

I mostly “discuss” books on my blog or my online book club at Babycenter.com.  I do post my reviews on all three sites.  What about you?

I only use LT and GoodReads. I don’t really chat. I have my blog and twitter for that but I’ve been thinking about getting in on the action. I used to like Readerville for chatting but they no long exist. :O/

I use Delicious Library 2. But it’s not an online database. It’s on my laptop. But it’s got some great features. Here is mine mine
