Books Out Today (translation: I need to make a Borders run)

August 25th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

Today is a big day for me in new books out.  I have anxiously been counting down the days until:

Blood Promise by Richelle Mead (book 4 in the Vampire Academy series)

Description from

How far will Rose go to keep her promise?

The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir’s Academy was the deadliest ever in the school’s history, claiming the lives of Moroi students, teachers, and guardians alike. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them. . . including Dimitri.

He’d rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa—the one she has sworn to protect no matter what—and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?

The Darkest Whisper by Gena Showalter (A Lords of the Underworld book)

Description from Bound by the demon of Doubt, Sabin unintentionally destroys even the most confident of lovers. So the immortal warrior spends his time on the battlefield instead of the bedroom, victory his only concern…until he meets Gwendolyn the Timid. One taste of the beautiful redhead, and he craves more.

Gwen, an immortal herself, always thought she’d fall for a kind human who wouldn’t rouse her darker side. But when Sabin frees her from prison, battling their enemies for the claim to Pandora’s box turns out to be nothing compared to the battle Sabin and Gwen will wage against love.

Another Faust by Daniel and Dina Nayeri

Description from A devilish debut by a brother-sister team invites us into the world of the elite Marlowe School, where some gifted students are having a hell of a year.

One night, in cities all across Europe, five children vanish — only to appear, years later, at an exclusive New York party with a strange and elegant governess. Rumor and mystery follow the Faust teenagers to the city’s most prestigious high school, where they soar to suspicious heights with the help of their benefactor’s extraordinary “gifts.” But as the students claw their way up — reading minds, erasing scenes, stopping time, stealing power, seducing with artificial beauty — they start to suffer the sideeffects of their own addictions. And as they make further deals with the devil, they uncover secrets more shocking than their most unforgivable sins. At once chilling and wickedly satirical, this contemporary reimagining of the Faustian bargain is a compelling tale of ambition, consequences, and ultimate redemption.

Aye Aye Here! I pre-ordered Blood Promise so I won’t get it until Thursday. I’m making a mad dash to clear out all of my required reading for reviews next week so that I can cozy up with Blood Promise this weekend. LOL!

Basically, I’m buying all of the books you have on your list too.

LOL. I was up late most of this past weekend finishing up books and writing reviews so I would have time to squeeze these in. I preordered Blood Promise too and it’s due in on Thursday but I couldn’t wait and also bought if on my Kindle. Another great thing about Kindles, you don’t have to wait for the book store to open to get a book on debut day :)

I need to make a book run too. Sadly it will have to wait. In the meantime, I have a surprise for you:

Debbie, I too love the last Tuesday of the month! I love alot of historical romances so many come out today too! I love Gena Showalter too! I hope to get out tomorrow or at least by the end of this week. If I don’t, the department stores like WalMart will run out of the books and they don’t restock!

I picked up Another Faust the week it came out as well. I’ve seen mixed reviews on it but it looked intriguing enough to give it a spin. I’ve also succumb to your love of the Vampire Academy series and purchased book one this weekend :)

I’ve seen mixed reviews of Another Faust as well. Kristi(StorySiren) said she would send me a copy so waiting on that.
