BBAW: Blogging Goals

September 18th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

Can you believe it’s already Friday and BBAW is almost over?  Today’s topic is:

Hopefully this week you’ve been visiting a bunch of new book blogs and maybe noticing some things about them you’d like to try yourself. Or maybe you’ve just had some ideas for improvements to your blog you’d like to put into place or new ideas for content. But there’s also probably something you really love about your blog, too, something you’re really proud of. It’s time to show off! Tell us and this is really important, in 50 words or less what you love best about your blog! And then in 50 words or less where you want your blog to be by the next BBAW! Ready? GO!

I am happy that I moved over to self-hosting this year!  Woo hoo! And that I actually have people who read and comment on my blog.  Never thought I’d have anyone interested in hearing what I think. I thought this would just be for me to track books.

As for improving in 50 words or less?  How do I fit it all in?

  • I’d like to get the word out more in the blogging community about my blog
  • Decide if I want to branch off into two separate blogs-one for my YA reviews and one for the other reviews
  • Write more interesting posts besides book reviews

What about you?  What are your goals?

Sounds like you have some good ideas for improving your blog!

You’ve got good goals. I need to set up some good goals for myself as well, otherwise I’m just going ot stay stuck in the rut I’m in.

What made you decide to switch to a dedicated website from the free version of WordPress?

I tried having two blogs at one point, but it got to be too much as I simply didn’t have the necessary time for both of them. I have seen others manage more than one blog, so I know it’s possible.

    Good luck with your goals!

My google reader helps me in more interaction. Try that!

I would just keep one blog…. I find maintaining more than one it starts to get like work so they aren’t neglected. Just my opinion!

Karin-there were a few things I couldn’t do with the free WordPress. It didn’t allow Javascript which was the biggest thing. The other thing was if I wanted to edit the CSS I had to pay extra to do so. One thing I miss though since I’m a pretty small blog is that I don’t get the click throughs from the WordPress keywords.

Alexia-I tried having a second food blog and that was too much but I was wondering if having two book blogs might be easier. I just don’t know if people like seeing such a wide variety of book genres on one blog or not.

Thanks Gautami! I’m trying to be more active in commenting on other people’s blogs.

Kailana-that is what I was worried about.

I know! i always do either meme’s or book reviews! but i don’t really know what else 2 do. Running 2 blogs would be 2 much 4 me.

Wishing you all the best with your goals Deb!

We seriously are the same person I think. LOL

I have been contemplating branching off into two blogs (on YA specific) but after hearing thoughts from Twitter peeps I think I’m going to leave it be. As it is my blog is slowly becoming more YA than anything else anyway just by the nature of the course my reading is taking. I still love chick lit and contemporary fiction and will still read/review but I don’t think I need a seperate blog to do that.

    Thanks Faye and Llehn.

Michelle-I will wait and see how it goes. I tend to go in waves and will read things like chick lit for months, then romances although my YA kick has been lasting a lot longer. :) I’m also contemplating how to balance my TV coverage.
