Luv Ya Bunches by Lauren Myracle

October 10th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

I received this book through Shelf Awareness

I give this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars.  Appropriate for 9-13 year olds.

Description from the book: What do Katie-Rose, Yasaman, Milla, and Violet all have in common? Other than being named after flowers, practically nothing. Katie-Rose is a film director in training. Yasaman is a computer whiz. Milla is third in command of the A list. And Violet is the new girl in school. They’re fab girls, all of them, but they sure aren’t friends. And if evil queen bee Medusa— ’scuse me, Modessa—has her way, they never will be. But this is the beginning of a new school year, when anything can happen and social worlds can collide . . .

This was a cute book perfect for 9-13 year old girls but not so much for adults who enjoy reading YA or MG books.  The characters were funny and brought back many memories of what it was like to be back in elementary school.  It was your typical “un-popular” clique vs the “popular” click led by a girl named Modessa, or as Katie Rose calls her, Medusa.  That name right there gives you a clue what Modessa is really like.

There were some oddities like certain chapters being written in the third person while most of the rest are written in the first person.  But other than that who can resist a fun book where good over comes the evil popular people.

Laura at I’m Booking It also reviewed this book and gives the opinion from her 11 year old daughter.

I just heard about this one at a book talk. Looks cute and good for the middle school/younger set.

It was cute but the craziest thing is how these were young girls already programming applications like Facebook!
