I give this a 3 out of 5 stars

Description from Amazon.com: Kaitlyn Fairchild’s prophetic drawings frighten her, but she is offered a scholarship to the Zetes Institute with four other psychically gifted students that seems like a new beginning–until they discover an experiment that can destroy them all.

This was my first read for my Revisit Your Childhood Favorite Reads Challenge(If you haven’t signed up yet go here to join!).  I loved all of L.J. Smith’s books when I was in high school so I was eager to go back and re-read them.  If you have the option to get the omnibus I would recommend doing so in order to easily be able to read all three volumes at once.  This book does a lot of set up of who the characters are, what their powers are and why they are brought together.  It just starts to get exciting at the end of the book and it will leave you wanting to pick up vol. 2 to see what happens.  I enjoy Kaitlyn’s character although she is very naive.  Gabriel is my favorite character since I enjoy those bad boys who are really good at heart.  Of course to offset Gabriel there is the golden boy, Rob, who Kaitlyn feels an almost instant attraction to.  This is an enjoyable read if you like Smith’s Vampire Diaries and Secret Circle series.

Some of you may also know I started a Who Would You Pick? event not long ago and I will be featuring this book at the end of the month.  Here is the short description of what Who Would You Pick is: I just started noticing lately that a lot of the books I’m reading involve love triangles and quite a number of them aren’t clearly black or white on who the heroine should choose.    Both guys all have their good points and are not totally bad.  So how about a series of who would you pick if you had the two guys fighting over YOU and why?  See the latest showdown for Melissa Marr’s Wicked Lovely series here.

So if you want to participate go out and read the Dark Visions series and check back at the end of the month to let me know if you would pick Rob or Gabriel.
