Description from Amazon.com:

New-girl Lindsay discovers all is not right at the prestigious Marlwood Academy for Girls. Ethereal, popular Mandy and her clique are plotting something dangerous. Lindsay overhears them performing strange rituals, and sees their eyes turn black. It doesn’t help that the school itself is totally eerie, with ancient, dilapidated buildings tucked into the Northern California woods, a thick white fog swirling through campus. There are hidden passageways, odd reflections in the windows at night, and scariest of all is the vast lake rumored to have captured the ghost of a girl who drowned many years ago.

What Lindsay doesn’t yet realize is that Mandy and her cohorts are becoming possessed by spirits who have haunted the school for two hundred years. Spirits who want someone dead…

And that someone is Lindsay.

I was so happy when Nancy offered to send me some of her books to review.  This book’s description had caught my eye despite not liking the cover (I thought the cover was a little cheesy).  This book definitely had its pluses and minuses.  The suspense build up was very good and it even made me a little jumpy as I was reading the book.  There are also a few character surprises that had to you wondering who were really were the good guys and who were the bad guys.  The inter-relations between the characters was a little off for me though.  At one point Lindsay tells Julie that she’s her best friend.  This seemed to be totally out of the blue to me.  They have not been at school for very long and while they get along we don’t see much that would really have them bonding that much.  I also thought the feelings between Lindsay and Troy were rushed but I can believe that one more along the lines of chemistry attracting them to each other.  I am currently on a Supernatural spree right now and this book reminds me of a Supernatural episode so I could not help but like it.  I was surprised to find out that this was the first book in a series so it ends on a cliff hanger.
