Blogger Holiday Interviews: My Friend Amy

December 8th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

I thought as a part of my holiday celebration it would be fun to interview some of my favorite bloggers.  This week Amy from My Friend Amy was kind enough to answer a few questions.  Be sure to go check out her great blog! She’s a wonderful blogger and a great driving force in the blogging community.

Q: What is your favorite thing about the holiday season?

A: I am a Christian, so my absolute favorite thing about the holiday season is reflecting on the reason I celebrate. For some reason unknown to me, it all feels more real and more dear to me during the holidays. I feel it’s a time to set aside the struggles of life and faith and simply bask in the love and promise of the holidays.

Q: Do you have a favorite holiday book?

A: Yes! The Best Christmas Pageant Ever never fails to make me laugh and cry. It captures the meaning of Christmas for me.

Q: Do you plan on making any New Year’s resolutions regarding your blog or blogging/reading in general for 2010?

A: Yes again! I hope to take on less review copies and commit to reading more books that fit within the challenges I’ve signed up for. Also, I hope to be relaxed enough in my reviewing schedule to be able to impulse read more often, something I haven’t done since book blogging.

Q: If you could get any book (released or not released) or bookish item for Christmas what would it be?

A: The third book in the Moon Crash trilogy by Susan Beth Pfeffer, I believe it’s called The World We Live In. I can’t think of the last time a couple of books so completely captured my imagination while still making it possible for me to be extraordinarly grateful for everything I have. While it’s true that these books envision an apocalyptic future, there are many people who live with the reality of hunger and the struggle to survive in our world right now.

Q: What has been your favorite book of 2009?

A: This is a very very hard question! I have a hard time singling out a book, so I’ll tell you that I loved The Passion of Mary Margaret by Lisa Samson, A Disobedient Girl by Ru Freeman, and Nothing But Ghosts by Beth Kephart.

Q: What book would you give everyone if you had an endless number of copies and why?

A: And now for something completely different, The Body of Christopher Creed is a book I would have loved to have people to discuss it with when I finished, so perhaps that one!

Q: Anything you would like to tell the readers of this interview?

A: Have a wonderful holiday season! Make time for yourself and treasure the people you love. :) Be safe!

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions.  Have a wonderful holiday season!

And good for you, Amy. There is a reason it’s called Christmas, right?
