Blogger Holiday Interviews: Bookworming in the 21st Century

December 17th, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

I thought as a part of my holiday celebration it would be fun to interview some of my favorite bloggers.  This week Kristen from Bookworming in the 21st Century was kind enough to answer a few questions.  Be sure to go check out her great blog!

Q: What is your favorite thing about the holiday season?

A: I’m one of those (un)fortunate people who has a birthday right before Christmas. Depends on the year whether I feel fortunate or not. As I get older, it’s just another excuse to find time with family I don’t always see – both for Christmas and my birthday. As a child, I remember hating having a birthday because all parties over the holidays bombed out on me with friends travelling to other places for the holidays. I love the snowy weather and it’s usually snowing around my birthday if not on Xmas. I’m one of those traditional lovers of the first snow and usually it falls on my birthday or right around there.

Q: Do you have a favorite holiday book?

A: I have a favorite story. It’s a George MacDonald story called My Uncle Peter – found in the book The Christmas Stories of George MacDonald – it’s a story about a man and his nephew and how they rescue a poor street girl and call her Little Christmas and then Crissy eventually. My mother is a big lover of George MacDonald’s books – so we’ve been read this series of Christmas stories since we were little and that one particular story was always my favorite. Since my name is Kristen, I at one point went by the nickname Krissy due to this story and it forever endears it to my heart. I now own a copy of the same book.

Q: Do you plan on making any New Year’s resolutions regarding your blog or blogging/reading in general for 2010?

A: Reading probably – I always try to best my numbers. I think I’m nearly at or over 200 at this point and probably won’t make it to 300 – so for next year I will definitely be aiming for 300 books read. Blog-wise I’ll probably just resolve to keep it up.

Q: If you could get any book (released or not released) or bookish item for Christmas what would it be?

A: Tough one – probably a hardcover edition of Fallen by Lauren Kate.

Q: What has been your favorite book of 2009?

A: Another tough question! So far, On the Jellicoe Road (but it wasn’t published this year…) – as for books published this year – I’d have to say Fire by Kristin Cashore.

Q: What book would you give everyone if you had an endless number of copies and why?

A: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins because it totally blew my mind away.

Q: Anything you would like to tell the readers of this interview?

A: Read lots over Christmas break – I know I’m going to!

Thanks again Kristin for joining us here!  It was great hearing your answers.  Have a wonderful holidays!

    What a wonderful feature, Debbie!

And Kristin, my husband’s birthday is right before Christmas as well, so I always work hard to make it special and separate from Christmas itself.
