Bloggiesta Update #2

January 9th, 2010 by Debbie's World of Books

Night 1= 2 hrs

Night 2=2.5 hrs

I didn’t have much time to work on Bloggiesta today since my husband is out of town so I had to watch my two year old on my own.  I did manage to get a few things down after she went to bed though.

My task list:

  • Write 6 reviews.
    • Wrote my review of Courage Mountain: The Further Adventures of Heidi by Fred Brogger
    • Wrote my review of Kitty’s House of Horrors by Carrie Vaughn
    • Wrote my review of The Unit by Ninni Holmqvist
    • Wrote my review of Numbers by Rachel Ward
    • Wrote my review of Black Rain by Graham Brown
  • Write latest summary post for my Revisit Your Childhood Favorites Challenge to showcase the latest reviews.
  • I’ve been vaguely tossing around the idea of a weekly meme around clearing off my TBR shelves. So I want to think that through and hopefully put together the first post.
  • I’ve been neglecting my Who Would You Pick showdown between some of my favorite male book characters so I need to get back to it.
  • I don’t know if I will get to this but I want to go back and either tag or create categories for my 5 star, 4 star, 3 star, etc. books so it’s easier to view all the books I gave a particular rating. A friend was telling me she wanted to just see my 4-5 star reviews –Started to tag my reviews with how many stars I gave it and created categories so it’s easier to find books in each star rating
  • Clean up my side bar
    • Remove 2009 challenges – Done
    • Add my 2010 challenges link
    • Clean up and update my blogroll – Done. Can you believe I had blogs that hadn’t been updated since 2008! Not to mention a bunch of my favorites were missing from the blogroll.
  • Update or get rid of my upcoming books and events page
  • Write and schedule at least 2 future Book Blogger Discoveries posts
  • Write up at least 2 Waiting on Wednesday posts
  • I still have a couple author spot light posts I wanted to write that I didn’t get through over the holidays
  • I also recently started My TV Addiction blog and I am behind on several tv episode write ups I wanted to do
  • Comment on at least 20 Bloggiesta posts – I’ve commented on 8 or 9 more Bloggiesta posts so I think I’m up around 25 comments
  • Finally got in contact with my first giveaway winner and sent email notification to my second giveaway winner.
  • Linked up some reviews that were missing in my Books Read in 2009 page
  • Participate in the Bloggiesta mini-challenges
    • Rebecca from The Book Lady’s Blog – 2010 Resolutions.  You know you got them! – Already had this one done
    • Pam from MotherReader –  Blogging is about community, so check out this Comment Challenge (watch for a Mr. Linky to be up on Saturday for you to complete this challenge). – Signed up and started commenting
    • Pam from – There is nothing worse than seeing your post on somebody else’s blog.  Talking about blog copyright and what you need to be doing to protect yourself. – Tried setting up the plugin but not sure how to tell if it’s working
    • Beth from Beth Fish Reads – Using categories & labels to find what you’re looking for.
    • Jackie from Farm Lane Books – Do not lose it all!  How to back up your blog. – Done!
    • Karin from Karin’s Book Nook – There is nothing worse than landing on 404 error pages.  It’s time to go on a dead link hunt!Hmmm…I tried using one of the dead link checkers and came up with 141 links but spot checking most of them seem ok so not sure what the deal is.  I did find a few links to Amazon products that are no longer valid though.
    • Chelle from Tempting Persephone – You have some great content.  But can people find it?  Here’s showing off the best of the best.
    • Jenn from Jenn’s Bookshelves – Got nothing to say (not likely – that’s why you’re blogging in the first place!) but here is an opportunity to brainstorm blogging topics.

Great job! Keep up the great work. I’ve got a ton I want to get done today too :)

You’ve gotten a lot done :-) BTW, I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it, but I love your blog’s theme. It’s so pretty. I love the purple, the vining flowers and the butterfly.

That happened to me with the link checker, too! I’m not sure what that was about so I, er, just ignored those and moved on ;-)

You spent more time than I!
I do plan to check links today though.

    Thanks Kool-Aid Mom & Kristen!

Aarti-I’ve seen a few people say the same thing about the link checker. Strange.

    L. Diane Wolfe-good luck!
