Description from

A modern girl’s comedic odyssey in a school filled with the descendants of Greek gods.

When Phoebe’s mom returns from Greece with a new husband and moves them to an island in the Aegean, Phoebe’s plans for her senior year and track season are ancient history. Now she must attend the uber exclusive academy, where admission depends on pedigree, namely, ancestry from Zeus, Hera, and other Greek gods. That’s right, they’re real, not myth, and their teen descendants are like the classical heroes -supersmart and superbeautiful with a few superpowers. And now they’re on her track team! Armed only with her Nikes and the will to win, Phoebe races to find her place among the gods.

This was a wonderful light hearted read which is just what I needed to get back into my reading groove.  Can you imagine having to start a new school filled with snooty teenagers who look down upon you just because you are not descended from a god?  Welcome to Phoebe’s life.  I really felt sorry for Phoebe as she is dealt one whammy after another.  Her mom comes back from a trip with a fiance, then announces they are moving immediately to Greece and then slams her with the revelation that her new step-dad is descended from a god as are every other person in her new school.  If that is not enough to drive you away screaming then throw in a mom who is a psychologist and tries to psycho-babble you through it all.

Phoebe’s character was fun as were the two friends she makes in her new school.  The part of the book that threw me was I was not sure who Phoebe would end up with.  She started out having a crush on the uber-good looking guy who happens to also be on the track team with her but he turns out to be a jerk–or is he?  Then throw in the cute, nice guy who befriends her when few other people in their school do and happens to have a crush on her.  Who will she pick?  You have to read the book to find out.  This is the perfect book if you are looking for something to make you laugh.
