Description from

The Darkest Angel by Gena Showalter

A Lords of the Underworld tale

An iron-willed demon assassin, the angel Lysander has never known lust—until he meets Bianka. Spawned from the bloodline of Lucifer, the beautiful but deadly Harpy is determined to lead the pure-hearted Lysander into temptation….

Love Me to Death by Maggie Shayne

Twenty-two years ago four teenage boys were convicted of a young girl’s murder. Now, in the form of a beautiful woman, the “victim” is seeking vengeance. And only one man dares to dig into the past to uncover its secrets… and set her free.

Lady of the Nile by Susan Krinard

Lady Tameri believes herself to be the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian princess, and Leo Erskine has set out to prove her wrong…never dreaming that the two of them are about to discover a prophecy that will bind them together forever.

I had to read this one because I love Showalter’s Lord of the Underworld series.  I especially enjoyed the last book dealing with Bianka’s harpy sister so this sounded great.  Showalter’s short story lived up to my expectations.  The story was funny, sexy and thoroughly enjoyable.  I loved Bianka and although Lysander made me want to hit him now and then (bad I know considering he is an angel) I enjoyed the interplay between he and Bianka.

I’ve never read a Shayne or Krinard book before so not sure if it was the writing style or type of story but I didn’t enjoy them as much.  Love Me to Death was ok but it was predictable and I found the relationship between the two main characters strange.  I’m not a fan of characters who immediately fall into bed together based on chemistry but knowing nothing about each other.

I almost did not finish Lady of the Nile and it never did pick up for me.  The story wasn’t of much interest to me and I didn’t care for either of the main characters.

I muddled through Showalter and gave up. I didn’t like all the sex. I would love to see the Lords of the Underworld books minus that. The idea is brilliant.

Yes, she does tend to be on the smuttier side :) Normally I don’t care for that but I love the idea of the Lords of the Underworld so I tend to just skim through all the sex scenes.
