I give this book 3 out of 5 stars

Description from They’re battle-hardened, sinfully wealthy, completely unstoppable—and all male: Four officers of the Crown, fighting against a deadly foe known only as the Black Cobra.

He is a man who has faced peril without flinching, determined to fight for king and country.

She is a bold, beautiful woman with a scandalous past, destined to become an untamed bride.

Together they must vanquish the ruthless enemy, while confronting the dangers of the heart . . .

I enjoyed both Laurens Cynster books and her Bastion Club series so I was excited to see that she had come out with a new series.  From what we see of all four officers at the beginning of the book I think this should make for a sexy and fun series.  This book focuses on the leader of the group of officers, Colonel Derek Delborough.  Each of the officers are carrying back to England what could be vital evidence on the identity of the leader of the Black Cobra.  On his journey back Delborough finds his aunts have tasked him with escorting a young lady home to an estate near his own.

Is the story predictable?  Of course.  If you read Laurens other books you know there is usually the formula or the handsome, possessive, strong male who meets his match in an equally independent and strong female.  Still I think if you enjoyed her previous books you will enjoy this one.  There are a few points that were a little jarring as it made little sense why the characters would behave in that manner but otherwise an enjoyable book.  Nothing outstanding but falls in nicely with the rest of Laurens books and you do get to see some of your favorite characters from the Cynster family and from the Bastion Club.
