New Book Finds

June 24th, 2010 by Debbie's World of Books

One of my favorite parts of book blogging is visiting other book blogs and hearing about all the great books out there that I may never have stumbled upon otherwise or receiving a newsletter with news about new books from authors I really enjoyed in the past.  Here are some of the great picks I found during May.  What do you think of them?

thefall

I just saw The Fall by Cuck Hogan and Guillermo Del Toro mentioned in Shelf Awareness.  It’s the sequel to The Strain which I really enjoyed.  Looking for a spooky read?  I suspect this will be a good one. It’s due out September 21, 2010.

thegame

I found out about The Game by Monica Hughes at The Ecletic Book Lover.  It’s due out October 19, 2010 and sounds like a great book for the dystopia lover.

No cover yet for Delirium by Lauren Oliver.  This one first appeared on my radar after a post by My Friend Amy.  It’s due out February 2011 and sounds like another great dystopian read.

No cover yet for Wolf Pact by Melissa de la Cruz.  Saw this one mentioned on Twitter by Melissa de la Cruz.  Due out in 2011.

No cover yet for Witches of East End by Melissa de la Cruz.  Also saw this one on Twitter from Melissa de la Cruz.  Due out in 2011.

thebrazenbride

I came across The Brazen Bride by Stephanie Laurens on Amazon.com from their suggestions banner.  I’ve read the first two books in the Black Cobra Quartet.  It’s due out June 29, 2010.

therecklessbride

I came across The Reckless Bride (4th Black Cobra Quartet book) by Stephanie Laurens while browsing for The Brazen Bride just now on Amazon.com. LOL.  It’s due out this year.  Goodreads says in July but Amazon says October.

solitary

I can’t remember which blog first recommended Lockdown by Alexander Gordon Smith to me while talking about dystopia books but I really enjoyed it and I heard the second book, Solitary, is due out in December 2010.

blacksun

I first heard about Black Rain by Graham Brown from LibraryThing’s Early Reviewer program.  I really enjoyed it and saw on Shelf Awareness that the sequel, Black Sun, is due out in August 2010.

legaciesfallingunder

I am a huge Mercedes Lackey fan so when I saw Legacies mentioned on Dark Faerie Tales I immediately added it to my wish list.  It’s due out July 6, 2010.  Falling Under by Gwen Hayes was another find on Dark Faerie Tales  and is due out in April 2011.

theeducationofbet

The Education of Bet by Lauren Baratz-Logsted has been showing up a lot lately but I first found it through The Book Butterfly.  It’s due out July 12, 2010.

theduff

I’ve been seeing The Duff by Kody Keplinger around the blogosphere a lot since BEA but I first found out about it from YA All the Way.  It’s due out September 2010.

hellokittymustdie

The title, Hello Kitty Must Die by Angela Choi, immediately caught my attention when I saw it mentioned on the Free Book Friday website.  It’s already out in stores.

nomansland

Even though The Hiding Spot gave this a so-so review it still caught my eye as a dystopia lover.  Nomansland by Lesley Hauge is due out June 22, 2010.

intothewildnerdyonder

I had never heard of Into the Wild Nerd Yonder by Julie Halpern until one of my favorite bloggers, GalleySmith, reviewed it on her blog.   It’s already in stores.

Thanks Pam! Would love to although I need to finish the other ones I borrowed too :) July is a crazy month for book reviews but I think I’m almost caught up and can focus on other books now.
    Katie-enjoy!
    L. Diane Wolfe-hope he enjoyed The Strain as much as I did.

I hope you enjoy The Education of Bet, it’s a quick fun read. Total fluff all the way.

YAY for Into the Wild Nerd Yonder. I loved it, so entertaining and a great story for HS kids to learn about being themselves.
