I give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars

Description from Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.

Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he’s seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power- one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.

The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn’t unravel the universe as we know it.

This is only the second Dark Hunter book I’ve read and the first one was awhile back.  I am so glad I read this one as I loved it!

The Characters:

Dev and Samia are both great characters.  Dev was such a funny guy and always managed to see the humor in just about any situation.  Samia was a former Amazonian queen so of course she was totally kick butt and still had a softer side.

The romance:

Dev and Sam’s romance was sizzling and you could feel the raging hormones flying around.  Yet, you could also feel the love growing between the two.

The storyline:

The story line was preparing the reader for a larger story that I imagine is going to arc several books as Stryker has a plan to bring his Daimons into the sunlight and wipe out the Dark Hunters.  There is a lot going on and a lot of background I think I was missing by not having read the previous Dark Hunter books but if anything this just whetted my appetite to want to go back and read the previous books.  I cannot wait to see how that works out!

I also like how the Greek gods are woven through the story and you get glimpses of what Artemis and Apollo were like.  I’ve always found the Greek gods fascinating and love seeing how various books portray the gods and their personalities.
