Smart Chicks Kick It Signing and Giveaway

September 23rd, 2010 by Debbie's World of Books

Have I mentioned how great a month it’s been for author visits here in the Bay Area?  This past Saturday I got to go to the Smart Chicks Kick it event in Menlo Park where I saw Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl, Alyson Noel, Kelley Armstrong, Melissa de la Cruz, Melissa Marr and Kimberly Derting.  I was unbelievably excited as these were some of my favorite authors.  Thanks to Pam at Bookalicious I got to take a picture with all of the wonderful ladies.

There was quite the turn out and it was a great event.  All of the gals had a wonderful sense of humor and along with telling some great anecdotes they introduced us to their “Marry, Shag, Cliff” game in which you pick characters from one of the authors books that you would of course marry, shag or throw off a cliff.  For me I would have to say from Melissa de la Cruz’s Blue Bloods books I would marry Oliver, shag Jack and throw Mimi off a cliff.  If you have a chance to make it to one of the Smart Chick tour stops I highly suggest doing so.

The other major highlight of this event was meeting some wonderful bloggers.  I met Vania, from Reverie Book Reviews, who I was very excited to find out actually recognized my Twitter/blog name.  Yes, I’m a dork and get giddy when one of my favorite bloggers has actually heard of my little ol’ blog.  I also met up with some great Bay Area bloggers-Bookalicious Pam, Nancy from Tales of the Ravenous Reader, Zoe from Zoe’s Book Reviews, Ree from Literary Obsession,  Angela from The Book Bind and Alicia from Shooting Star Mag.

While there I got an extra ARC of Beautiful Creatures signed.  It’s an awesome book and I’m giving it away to one reader.

I’m so jealous you had the opportunity to meet so many great authors in one place. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet Kami and Margie so I know how awesome they are! The game sounds like it was good fun and probably got a lot of laughs, particularly the part about who you’d throw off the cliff.

Loved it! Just wish Cassie Clare was also joining this stop. I loved Margie and Kami. They were so funny and really nice.
