Description from Amazon.com:

After inheriting the dark Van Alen Legacy, Schuyler fled to Florence–with her forbidden love, Jack. Now the two of them must embark on the mission Schuyler was destined to complete: to find and protect the seven gates that guard earth from Lucifer, lord of the Silverbloods.

As the Blue Blood enclave weakens yet further, fate leads Schuyler closer to a terrifying crossroads–and a choice that will determine the destiny of all vampires.

I have been eagerly awaiting this book and pre-ordered it so it would be delivered on release day.  So worth it and the only bad thing is having to wait for the next book!  If you have not started the Blue Bloods series it’s one you should definitely check out.  For those who are already fans of the series one thing I did not realize going in is that Schuyler and Jack do not play at much of a part in this book.  Mimi is the primary character and she ends up teaming up with Oliver and Deming, one of the Chinese twin Venators that we briefly met in an earlier book.  Together they have to try and track down who is kidnapping blue blood teens and burning them to death while streaming it live on the internet.

The story line

Mimi is now regent of the New York coven and she is on a rampage.  She wants Jack killed but she has to put vengeance aside when a Blue Blood teen is kidnapped and someone sends her a link to a video showing the teen tied up and a message saying that she will be burned to death.  I suspected who the killer/kidnapper was but why he/she was doing it will leave you intrigued and wanting to know more in future books.   There are also little excerpts of Venators back in the 15th century hunting down silver bloods and end up finding humans that are marked with the sign of Lucifer.  You are given hints as to what is going on but not the whole picture and how that ties in to the murders in present day.

The Characters

I loved this book but I’ve heard some people were disappointed that Schuyler and Jack did not play a bigger part.  They are off in Europe searching for the gates and trying to evade Mimi’s bounty hunters.  They uncover another mystery but we do not get any answers in this book.

I was a big fan of Mimi, she is one of those characters who is so bad and yet you can’t help but be fascinated by them.  It was great seeing a softer side to her in the last book but in this one she is on a rampage.  She wants Jack hunted down and killed for leaving her for Schuyler.  The kicker is she did not even want him anymore but after losing Kingsley she admits if she can’t be happy in love why should anyone else be?

Deming is one of her coven’s best Venators and comes to New York to help Mimi track down the kidnapper/killer.  She seems like she is going to be an interesting characters in future books and I can’t wait to learn more about her.

Overall I found this book fascinating and there is a lot of set up for exciting developments in future books.  It’s going to leave you wanting the next book right away!

Misguided Angel sounds like an interesting paranormal read, I’m putting this one on the ol’ TBR list 😀

I’ve been reading the previous books so I won’t be so confused when I get to read Misguided Angel. Glad it doesn’t disappoint! But I would have figured that Jack and Schyuler would be the main characters. Still, Mimi is a great POV to tell the story from. And I love this new plot point with the kidnapped teen. This series seems to be getting better and better! Thanks for the review! 🙂
