Ten Books I WILL Read in 2011

January 4th, 2011 by Debbie's World of Books
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This meme was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
There are a bunch of books I’ve been meaning to read for ages but these are ones I am really going to make a good attempt to read this year.

  1. People rave about this series.  I’ve read one of the books and didn’t get into it but so many people have recommended it I’m going to give book 1 a try.

  2. I loved her Glass series and I’ve heard this one is even better.

  3. I have yet to see a bad review on this one and the author is local to me!

  4. This is another series that people keep suggesting to me.

  5. I love her Vampire Academy series so I have to check out this series.

  6. I’ve had this on my shelves for awhile and I saw it made so many people’s top 10 of 2010 lists.

  7. This is another classic that everyone keeps raving about and I’ve seen so many readalongs lately for it.

  8. This has been lingering on my TBR list for ages.  I really need to dig into it

  9. I finally gave into peer pressure and read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and loved it. Friends had saved they thought this one was even better.

  10. This sounds amazing and two of my favorite bloggers have raved about it.

That’s it.  Have you read any of these?  Any opinions on them?

  1. Laura @ I'm Booking It

Lonesome Dove has been sitting on my bookshelf, waiting for me to read it, for probably 15 years now. I should either read it or surrender at some point soon!

The other two of the Stieg Larsson are as good at the first, but each has a different flavor. I hope you enjoy them!

I liked Outlander quite a bit. The second one I didn’t like as much, and I haven’t gotten the motivation to read past that.

There are others on your list that I’ve hear a lot of good things about, so I hope you enjoy your reading!

  2. Helen Murdoch

I’ve only read The Sky is Everywhere, but I really enjoyed it! Great list

  3. Alita

The only book I’ve read from your list is Outlander. I read it last January, meaning to read the entire series in the year. But it just wasn’t for me and I feel like the only female in the world who didn’t love it.

The Sky Is Everywhere is one I’ve been wanting to read for a while, too.

  4. Gina @ BookDragon's Lair

love your list, it’s always exciting to see other peoples, you never know what gym you’ll add to your list ;)

  5. dsuzuki

Iknow. It’s so fun to see what others pick.

  6. Linda

Dark Lover is hot. I really liked it. Need to continue the series.
I need to read the last book in the Millenium trilogy.

  7. Nicole

I should probably start on The Girl WHo Played With Fire Sooner rather than later. Amy and co. interested me in Lonesome Dove when they read it, but I have a number of big books that I am reading this year, so this might not be the time.

Laura-I just need motivation for books like Lonesome Dove. Gone With the Wind was on my list for probably 10+ years and I loved it when I finally read it.
Helen-I feel like I’m the only one who hasn’t read it lol.
Alita-Hope I enjoy Outlander. So far everyone raves about it.
Linda-can’t wait to start then :)
Nicole-yes, Amy first peaked my curiosity and then my online book club all started starting about it. I finally crossed Gone With the Wind off last year so hoping to tackle this one this year.

  9. Jamie

I still need to read The Summer I Turned Pretty. I heard excellent things! I also need to finish The Millennium series and luckily I got The Girl Who Played With Fire from my Secret Santa! :)

    How cool! Enjoy.

  11. Andrea

    Great List!

  12. Anna

Dark Lover and the next two books of the BDB series are the best in the series, the first three books are just amazing! I love this series, even with all its faults because of the incredibly written romance and characters. And Outlander is a classic, I don’t remember much except really enjoying it and falling head over heels in love with Jamie. I hope you enjoy reading them!

  13. Sara (The Hiding Spot)

I read THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE and THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY this year and loved them both immensely!! So glad to see them on your list!

  14. Danya

I’m not so big a fan of its sequels, but I love Poison Study – it’s on my favorites shelf!

  15. Suey

Okay yep. I need to read The Sky is Everywhere too!

  16. AMber

Dark Lover is really good. But space out the series. I read them all together and it got a bit tiring after the 4th or 5th book. Started to all just seem the same. Some space and time would have been good.

Succubus Blues is AWESOME!! I love it. Great read.

  17. Michelle

I’ve read several of these and they are fantastic choices for books to get to in the coming year. Stolen, the Summer Series and The Sky is Everywhere all made my favorites list of 2010.

  18. Sara

My husband LOVES when I read the dark lover books. I liked the first several books in the series, the last few I haven’t enjoyed as much.

    Succubus Blues is awesome!

  19. dsuzuki

Anna, Sara-That seems to be the consensus on the BDB books. Hopefully I’ll enjoy this one then.
Amber-Good to know. I know for the Kitty Norville books I read 7 of them in a row and got totally burnt out on the series so I’ll space this one out.
Michelle-lol. I know that was what finally pushed me over the edge and decide I had to read them.

  20. Trish

Hope you get to them all! I have some I’d really like to get to but seems that something always gets in the way. Need to focus on that.

Lonesome Dove! That one definitely got my attention when everyone was reading it last year together. Loved the mini-series.

    Enjoy!!
