In My Mailbox 1/9/11

January 9th, 2011 by Debbie's World of Books

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren.

I literally just got back home from the ALA Midwinter meeting down in San Diego about 2 hours ago after a 8.5 hour drive with Pam from Bookalicio.us and Nancy from Ravenous Reader.  My shoulders and back ache and my brain is numb but so worth it!  I got a ton of books I’ve been dying to read, got to hang out with some great blogger buddies including meeting Angela from Dark Fairie Tales, Danielle from There’s a Book and Kai from Fiction State of Mind and I also meant some really nice librarians mostly from the midwest and east coast (one from Baraboo, WI. Don’t you just love that city name?!). So no real job networking out where I’m at but at least I’m inspired in my job hunt again. I’m so glad I had Pam, Nancy and Angela to tagalong with since this was my first convention.  So much fun but after this I think I will definitely be skipping the craziness of BEA. Here are the books I picked up:

I am too beat to list them all but the highlights for me were: Bumped by Megan McCafferty, Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer, Divergent by Veronica Roth, Witches of East End by Melissa de la Cruz.

I also got the most awesome Secret Santa gift from Shauna at Reading and Ruminations.

On my return from ALA I found these two waiting for me from Sourcebooks:

*gasp!* I don’t quite know how to describe how envious I am of you right now…. STARCROSSED! Oh my gosh, I have been dying for that novel. Divergent!! Possession! Wolfsbane! Ah, ah, ah! *deep breath*

I soo wish they had something like this in Australia. So glad you had fun and met up with some brilliant bloggers… and of course scored yourself a truckload of A-MAZING books! Hope you enjoy reading! :)

Wow! You’ve got loads of books to get to! I really am looking forward to your review of Water Wars – I have been pinching myself not to break down and buy it (I’m on a buying ban).

    Happy Monday!

Debbie, I had a great time meeting you at the YA Blogger Meetup. I’m a bit jealous that you snagged an ARC of Bumped — that was one I was really looking forward to but didn’t get, though I also got tons of great books. :)

Also I love the book pictures. I could just stare at them all day long. haha.

Looks like you had a fantastic weekend. Sorry you didn’t have the opportunity to network for jobs more but I’m sure you’ll find something soon no matter what.
