My Most Read Authors According to GoodReads

February 17th, 2011 by Debbie's World of Books

I just came across this feature in Goodreads and thought I would take a look at my most read authors based on what’s in my Goodreads list.  It’s not really representative of all my favorite authors since I’ve been reading a lot of newer authors who only have one or two books out but here are my top 20:

1 8685 Mercedes Lackey 50
2 6251 Julie Garwood 29
3 63898 Julia Quinn 22
4 50873 L.J. Smith 19
5 6001 Carolyn Keene 17
6 12577 Douglas Preston 15
7 29542 Johanna Lindsey 14
7 6268 Christine Feehan 14
9 17061 Charlaine Harris 13
10 9241 Stephanie Laurens 12
10 8732 David Eddings 12
10 38809 James Rollins 12
13 83714 Matthew Reilly 11
14 48192 Gena Showalter 9
15 15451 Tim LaHaye 8
15 21911 Melissa de la Cruz 8
15 16628 Walter Farley 8
15 3780 James Patterson 8
19 8988 Carrie Vaughn 7
20 13957 Scott Westerfeld 6
20 1077326 J.K. Rowling 6
20 941441 Stephenie Meyer 6

If you are a Goodreads member who made your top 20?

Edited to add that Pam’s comment had me wondering how I got 6 books for Stephenie Meyer.  Realized I had New Moon listed twice in my books so once I removed that she dropped off the list and tied with a few other authors at 5 books read. I’m not sure how they are calculating the numbers since some seem to include my To-Read books.

22 13681 Peter David 5
22 137902 Richelle Mead 5
22 941441 Stephenie Meyer 5
22 5194 Michael Crichton 5

I know, what can I say? I read all the Twilight books plus The Host. Hmmm, that adds up to 5 books. Turns out I had New Moon listed twice. So I guess that drops her from my top 20.

I approve to Mercedes Lackey being at the top of your list!

Though I can’t seem to find that section on GoodReads for myself (I blame it being too early in the morning for my brain to function properly), I’m sure she’d be at or near the top of mine, too.

lol. I couldn’t find it myself either. Someone had to point me to it. Go to your My Books and it’s on the left hand side.

Wow, yeah, your list rings so fewe bells for me! I’ll have to go check mine out.

Ann Martin (All those Babysitter’s Club books), Tim LaHaye, Brian K Vaughn, Judy Blume, Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Weiner make up my top 5. Judy and Jennifer tied for #5. Cool feature. Thanks for alerting me to it!

LOL. I never entered all my BSC or Sweet Valley books. Otherwise Ann Martin and Francine Pascal would have topped my list.

My stats are skewed because I haven’t been adding everything appropriately. Julie Kagawa is my number one though. :)

Oh what an interesting feature! And I had been wondering how to do that, thanks for the tip :) I had looked on the left, but not low enough.
