Summary from

Since accepting a teaching position at remote Fairwick College in upstate New York, Callie McFay has experienced the same disturbingly erotic dream every night: A mist enters her bedroom, then takes the shape of a virile, seductive stranger who proceeds to ravish her in the most toe-curling, wholly satisfying ways possible. Perhaps these dreams are the result of writing her bestselling book, The Sex Lives of Demon Lovers. After all, Callie’s lifelong passion is the intersection of lurid fairy tales and Gothic literature—which is why she finds herself at Fairwick’s renowned folklore department, living in a once-stately Victorian house that, at first sight, seemed to call her name.

But Callie soon realizes that her dreams are alarmingly real. She has a demon lover—an incubus—and he will seduce her, pleasure her, and eventually suck the very life from her. Then Callie makes another startling discovery: He’s not the only mythical creature in Fairwick. As the tenured witches of the college and the resident fairies in the surrounding woods prepare to cast out the incubus, Callie must accomplish something infinitely more difficult—banishing this demon lover from her heart.

First off can I just say that cover is gorgeous!  It’s what first drew my attention to this book.  Then I saw the summary referring to incubi.  How could you resist right?  Unfortunately this book just did not live up to my expectations.  It was by no means bad but it really did not keep my attention for long and I had to force myself to keep plugging away at it.  I know most romances have a lot of predictable elements but usually the humor, action or small plot twists keep my interest.  While reading this book I could predict what was going to happen at pretty much every step.  It’s easy to figure out who the handsome new professor is that catches Callie’s eye, who the European exchange student really is, the deal behind Callie’s grandmother, etc.  It wasn’t until the last hundred pages or so that I really became engaged in the story and then the story to comes to an abrupt halt.  I know it was setting up for book 2 but when you really boil things down not all that much in the core story of Callie and her abilities takes place considering the book was over 400 pages long.

I didn’t feel very invested in either Callie or her incubus lover although they had quite the hot sex scenes.  All in all this was just a ho hum book and I may or may not pick up book 2.  Like I said the last hundred pages finally got interesting but I’m hoping for more action in the next one.

Hm Hm… I have that one waiting on my Kindle waiting to be read, yet I didn’t get past the first pages! Now, I’m not sure if I should pick it up again or not…

I enjoy the cover, too… Too bad the book wasn’t a bit better!

Yeah, the cover was so gorgeous. Felt a little let down by the story.
