Top Ten Authors I Wish Would Write Another Book

January 9th, 2012 by Debbie's World of Books

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is-Top Ten Authors I Wish Would Write Another Book (debut authors, authors who seem to have taken a hiatus, OR for those who read classics authors you wish would have written another book before they passed).  I’m sure there are more than these 7 but fortunately most of my favorite authors have new books in the works!

  1. Katherine Neville-I absolutely loved The Eight and although I wasn’t as big a fan of her other books I would still love to see something new along these lines from her.
  2. Margaret Mitchell-it took until last year to finally read Gone With the Wind and I loved it!  I know there is a sequel, Scarlett, written by another author but I would have loved to see where Mitchell would have gone with a sequel.
  3. Julie Garwood-I know she is still writing new contemporary romances but I would love if she would go back and write some new historical romances.  I LOVE those.
  4. Suzanne Collins-is there any question why?!  Is it possible she could write something else that would equal The Hunger Games?  I don’t know but I would love to find out.
  5. Jandy Nelson-The Sky is Everywhere was an unbelievably touching YA story and I cannot wait to see what else she will write.
  6. Julia Hoban-Willow was another one of my favorite contemporary YA books.
  7. Susan Beth Pfeffer-Life As We Knew It was so amazingly written that it gave me the chills and I would love to see another series from  her.

I miss Garwoods historical romances, too! They were so good. Also, I agree w/the Suzanne Collins one! I almost put her on my list as well!

  2. Heather

Julie’s next historical is almost ready to be written. She knows who the hero and heroine are. She’s under contract for a couple more contemporaries.

  3. Anne Bennett

Jandy Nelson. Good call. I was trying to think of some debut authors that I am dying to read more from and I think you are right with Miss. Nelson.

  4. Michael

Completely agree with Collins. Really hope she writes more. =]
    Awesome list. =]

I keep seeing Willow on list after list this week. Guess that’s a sign that I need to check it out :)

I’d love to see a new novel from Suzanne Collins. I’m curious to see what other ideas she can come up with.

    I enjoyed your list.

I have Willow and The Sky is Everywhere on my TBR pile and they both look to be fantastic reads- have such read such great things about them both. Thanks for stopping by my TTT this week :)

  7. Tanya Patrice

So agree with Suzanne Collins – I don’t know how she would top The Hunger Games, but I would love to read her again too.

  8. Anne

I really enjoyed the book The Eight too. I picked Margaret Mitchell as well for the same reason. I would love to know what happened to Scarlett and Rhett!

  9. Nina

I probably am one of the few people on earth that hasn’t read the Hunger Games trilogy, but I am planning to read all three books this year! See, I’m trying. ;) But with everyone telling me I should read them, because they are awesome, I would want her to write another book too. ;)

  10. Lori

I have no idea how I forgot Suzanne Collins on my list! Great choices!

  11. Alison

I agree with Collins. I know she had another series before THG. I’m going to start it soon-ish. If it’s as wonderful as THG, I’m going to be ecstatic!

Suzanne Collins for sure! I’d love to see another series even better than the hunger games, if thats possible :)

  13. Kailana

I would like to see more from Julia Hoban, too. I liked Willow.

  14. melissa @ 1lbr

I put Margaret Mitchell on my list too – the sequel definitely didn’t cut it for me.

  15. Mary-Sweet Bookshelf

I would LOVE another book from Jandy Nelson! Can’t she just write a sequel to The Sky is Everywhere?!!

  16. Michele//Just a Lil Lost

Wow! Good for you for reading/finishing Gone with the Wind! I’m horrible for reading the “classics”…

    Thanks for stopping by! :)

Susan Beth Pfeffer is fantastic. I’m really hoping she does another great series like her Moon series. Although I have Blood Wounds and still haven’t finished it.
