Series: Ghostwalkers #9

Rating: ★★★★☆

Summary from GhostWalker Kane Cannon’s mission plunges him into a hot zone more personal than he anticipated: the hiding place of Rose Patterson-hunted fugitive, ex-lover, and a fellow GhostWalker desperate to save the life of her unborn child. Kane’s Child.

Since I have been getting back into reading my romances lately I was perusing my TBR shelves and was shocked to realize I actually had a Ghostwalker book sitting there that I had not read.  This is one series I usually try to stay on top of since I enjoy them so much.  This one definitely did not disappoint.

I’ve always been curious about Kane and Rose since we saw Kane aiding Rose in her escape from Whitney’s lab since we saw them in I believe Mari’s story, Deadly Game.  I knew Kane had a soft spot for Rose but I never got how he could be one of Whitney’s minions and still be attractive to Rose.  We finally see that explained and the chemistry between Kane and Rose is definitely steamy despite her being pregnant for a good part of the story.

Speaking of the pregnancy I did have some issues with the story.  Despite being a Ghostwalker with all these special abilities and healing quickly I found it hard to believe that Rose could be walking as long as she did, jump out of cars, fight off a ton of bad guys, etc and still last as long as she did without problems.  And though I have two kids of my own I will admit the sex scenes that take place after she gives birth and involve descriptions of breast milk during the act just didn’t work for me.

Then there is their son who I absolutely adored and I loved seeing snatches of what the Ghostwalker babies are like and hints of what’s to come.  I especially like the scene that takes place when the babies of the other Ghostwalker pairs all get together.

The story itself is fast moving and kept my attention making me glad I finally got to this one.
