Summary from

In a world that denies emotions, where the ruling Psy punish any sign of desire, Sascha Duncan must conceal the feelings that brand her as flawed. To reveal them would be to sentence herself to the horror of “rehabilitation” – the complete psychic erasure of everything she ever was…

Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a changeling hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy coexistence, these two races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several changeling women. Lucas is determined to find the Psy killer who butchered his packmate, and Sascha is his ticket into their closely guarded society. But he soon discovers that this ice-cold Psy is very capable of passion – and that the animal in him is fascinated by her. Caught between their conflicting worlds, Lucas and Sascha must remain bound to their identities – or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation…

I’ve owned this book for years and it’s been on my list of 12 books I will read this year for the last two years but I just never made it to it.  I was in a YA reading slump and decided to try something different to get out of it.  I am kicking myself for not reading this book sooner!  I loved it so much I immediately started book 2 and have read 5 books in the series in 6 days.  This was even though I had a ton of work and it meant staying up late to read after all my work was done.

I adored everything about the book.  The psy-changeling world fascinated me.  The Psy suppressed all emotion in order to stem a tide of madness and mayhem.  For a long time it seemed to have worked.  Can you imagine living in a world where no one feels love, hate, fear or anything else?  Then there are the changelings who live so passionately and with a sense of pack like wolves.  And last are the humans who are thought to be the weakest of the bunch but are filled with some surprises of their own.  The interaction between the three and how their societies evolved were fascinating.

Both Lucas and Sascha stole my heart.  Lucas is sexy as hell and the chemistry between the two is sizzling.  Lucas was the perfect blend of dominant personality with a loving, caring side packaged up into one hot alI loved watching Sascha learn to embrace her emotions and become a stronger person.  Watching their relationship develop will make you sigh in envy at the depth of feeling between the two.

Truly an amazing book and I cannot wait to devour the rest of the series.

I miss going to bookstores too, but not because they are not many near my house, but because of lack of extra funds. ;-)

I didn’t know you were a Bay Area resident like me. That’s awesomesauce. Do you attend many local book signings? Maybe we’ll meet up at one. ;-D

    Happy reading,
If you have a minute, check out my books!
