My Review

The end of The Golden Lily I wanted to scream and shake Sydney because what was wrong with that girl?! So as soon as I finished that I had to rush to my library to pick up The Indigo Spell. This series has really grown on me but despite a lot of people telling me this was one of their favorites in the series I wasn’t as huge a fan of it. Yes, I loved all the Adrian scenes and the fact that despite Sydney behaving like an idiot he still persists. I’m hoping for more Eddie in the next book because though Dmitri and Adrian hold my heart Eddie is really coming on strong as well.

As for why this one wasn’t one of my favorites is that a lot of it was too predictable. There was the issue about Sydney’s witch mentor and her crazy pants sister which has a conclusion I saw coming way early. So that was a let down though I did have some happy flash backs to episodes of Charmed which is one of my favorite TV shows. The other downside was though Adrian is there, there really was no focus on the vampire aspect in this book. Yes, there is a Moroi function but it was more of a side note and I missed really seeing Dmitri and the other dampers in action.

I was very happy with how this one ended though and can’t wait to go read The Fiery Heart.

About the book:

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets–and human lives.”

In the aftermath of a forbidden moment that rocked Sydney to her core, she finds herself struggling to draw the line between her Alchemist teachings and what her heart is urging her to do. Then she meets alluring, rebellious Marcus Finch–a former Alchemist who escaped against all odds, and is now on the run. Marcus wants to teach Sydney the secrets he claims the Alchemists are hiding from her.

But as he pushes her to rebel against the people who raised her, Sydney finds that breaking free is harder than she thought. There is an old and mysterious magic rooted deeply within her. And as she searches for an evil magic user targeting powerful young witches, she realizes that her only hope is to embrace her magical blood–or else she might be next.

I am so so far behind in her books. I still haven’t started this series. One day though. I keep picking them up lol Glad to hear you’re still excited about them!

LOL. I only recently got back to it. I loved the Vampire Academy series but never got hooked into this one until recently.
