My Review

I absolutely love Lori Foster’s writing so I was really excited when I saw this one up for review request on NetGalley. I initially didn’t realize it was a reprint of two of Lori’s earlier works but after finishing them I could definitely feel the difference. The first story, Impetuous, was just as engrossing as Lori’s other books but I had a hard time liking Carlie. She was so judgmental and while Tyler may have been a playboy I think her rudeness and condescending attitude towards him were so much worse. I get she was a flustered after their one night of passion but still it was hard to like her. I really liked Tyler until the end where his behavior to “win” Carlie back really irked me. I know he was trying to win her back but the way he kept physically touching her despite her protests felt dirty to me. I don’t care if you feel sure a woman must want you that doesn’t give you the right to ignore her protests. Still like I said Lori’s voice did keep me intrigued in this one right until the end.

Outrageous on the other hand just didn’t do it for me. It smacked too much of the insta-love with Judd and Emily falling for each other in just a matter of days. I find that so irritating. My other pet peeve are heroines who make obviously stupid decisions. Emily’s behavior at the end of the book was just so dumb, she almost ruined everything Judd was working for and it made no sense. Then to top it off there were no repercussions for her irresponsible behavior. I know she thought she was “protecting” Judd but anyone with any sense would have realize what a bad idea that was.

In the end though Impetuous had a few issues I enjoyed it but Outrageous just wasn’t to my taste and I am glad Lori’s recent works have been so amazing. Definitely do not judge Lori Foster based on these two books.  Her more recent books are awesome!

About the Book:

Judd Sanders couldn’t believe it when the beautiful, wide-eyed woman he rescued from some drunk hoodlums started poking her gorgeous little nose into his business. She was obviously a menace to herself – not to mention to his libido. Worse, she’d blow his cover. For little did Emily Cooper know that Judd was really a cop – whose cover left him a little too “uncovered” for his liking.

Grade school teacher Carlie McDaniels trades in her frumpiness for the look of an exotic harem girl, at least for one costume party. So long, spinsterhood—and hello tall, dark and handsome Tyler Ramsey….

Even after the best night of their lives, Tyler hasn’t guessed the identity of his harem hottie…and Carlie plans on keeping him in the dark. After all, a gorgeous guy like Tyler would never fall for his smart-talking best friend. And Carlie’s not sure she wants to know what would happen if he ever unveiled the naked truth!
