About the book:

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets – and human lives.

In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her. . . .

But the struggle isn’t over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there’s still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure — and re-education — looms larger than ever.

My Review:

So you know those books that you love so much but want to throw them across the room because of the major cliff hanger?  That’s me right now with this book.  I LOVED it and despite it being after 11pm, having to get up at 6:30am to get the kids to school and then a full day of work I am so tempted to go buy the Kindle version of Silver Shadows so I can start reading it now.  And yes, this is even though I have it on hold at the library and can go pick it up tomorrow.  That is how badly I want to know what happens next.  Sigh.

Despite that I have to say I loved just about everything about this book other than the cliffhanger.  Sydney has definitely grown on me despite my initial dislike of her character.  Adrian can really do no wrong and I adore the rest of the gang.  Even Zoe was interesting because you know what’s coming and yet I feel like there’s going to be so much more to her in future books (or at least I hope so!).

The story line was enthralling despite not a lot of action.  I loved seeing the relationships between everyone deepen and as they have to face their own inner demons.  This is probably my favorite book in the series so far.
