About the Book:

This Montgomery Has a Head for Business

Working for Zach Montgomery is challenging on many levels-coming from a wealthy and powerful family, he lives by his own rules and doesn’t answer to anyone. But Gabriella Martine has no intention of backing down. She’s used to handling stubborn men, and it doesn’t hurt that Zach is smart, charismatic… and gorgeous.

And a Heart for Adventure

Zach’s perfect world is turned upside down when a climbing accident leaves him broken, angry, and maddeningly dependent. In his slow quest for recovery, Gabriella is always there to help… but as Zach comes to see his beautiful assistant in a new light, he is forced to re-evaluate what it really means to be aman worthy of Gabriella’s love.

My Review:

I’ve heard great things about Samantha Chase and thought it was about time to dive into one of her books. I was slightly disappointed though I will fully admit I didn’t check and didn’t realize this was part of a series.

While for the most part you can follow the story line I’m hoping Zach is slighly more likeable if you’ve read the earlier books. While I enjoyed Samantha Chase’s writing style I never truly came to like Zach. Yes he was in a horrific accident, yes it’s hard for anyone to know what he’s going through and yes he deserves some self-pity time BUT from what I can tell he’s been a jerk since before the accident. Watching the way he treated Gabrielle made me want to give him a swift kick in the you know what. He is cruel and again I may have excused it if we didn’t keep hearing about how he’s treated her horribly for years. What kind of guy has a temper tantrum the way he did that lasts years AND makes him feel justified in being degrading and insulting to another human being because his feelings were hurt?

That leads me to Gabrielle who I really loved EXCEPT for the fact that she put up with Zach’s abuse for years. She’s brilliant, talented, sweet and obviously an asset anyone would appreciate so even crushing on Zach I find it hard to believe she would take his behavior for years is unfathomable. Then he really tops his deplorable behavior in the end. While I knew Gabriella would eventually forgive him I wish he had had to work for it more. It seemed way to easy for him.

If it weren’t for Zach I would definitely have rated this book higher. I loved Zach’s family and friends and definitely want to go read Summer’s story as I already love both Ethan and her.
