About the book:

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh returns to herextraordinary Psy-Changeling world with a story of wild passion and darkest betrayal…

Control. Precision. Family. These are the principles that drive Silver Mercant. At a time when the fledgling Trinity Accord seeks to unite a divided world, with Silver playing a crucial role as director of a worldwide emergency response network, wildness and chaos are the last things she needs in her life. But that’s exactly what Valentin Nikolaev, alpha of the StoneWater bears, brings with him.

Valentin has never met a more fascinating woman. Though Silver is ruled by Silence–her mind clear of all emotion–Valentin senses a whisper of fire around her. That’s what keeps him climbing apartment buildings to be near her. But when a shadow assassin almost succeeds in poisoning Silver, the stakes become deadly serious…and Silver finds herself in the heart of a powerful bear clan.

Her would-be assassin has no idea what their poison has unleashed…

My Thoughts:

I have to start off by saying if you have not read Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series you need to now because it’s one of the most awesome series I’ve ever read! When I received this ARC at RT17 I actually happy danced and squeed which doesn’t happen with that many books (the other one being Wired by Julie Garwood!).

This is a spin off series which made me both happy and sad. I definitely missed some of my favorite characters from the previous Psy-Changeling books but I was happy to finally see Silver get her own story. She’s always been cool as ice when working with Kaleb so I knew she was going to be an amazing character and she definitely lived up to my expectations. I loved seeing her come into her own while living with the bear changelings especially seeing her around the children. The children/cubs are absolutely adorable and wrapped themselves around my heart.

Valentin was a good solid hero though didn’t quite knock down Lucas, Hawk, Vasic, Kaleb or Aden out of their top spots in my heart. I have to give him mad props for his determination especially towards the end.

I will admit though I loved seeing Silver fall in love I now am anxiously awaiting/hoping Silver’s brother gets his own story. I loved seeing the glimpses of him and his potential mate. Fabulous start to another must read series from Nalini Singh!
