Who needs mistletoe?
Most people wouldn’t think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn’t most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she’s been having since spending the night with
her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that—but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once . . .

Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don’t mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he’s shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly’s brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can’t believe he’s drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who’s the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he’s ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he’s been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas . . .

My Thoughts

Jill Shalvis never fails to deliver a delightful read that will definitely make your day. Molly’s appearances in past books made me curious to see how her story would unfold and she doesn’t disappoint. Combined with the uber sexy Lucas, this book is definitely a winner.

The chemistry between Molly and Lucas is sizzling but I also loved how they both respected each other and as much as it might rankle they didn’t try to cut each other out of their part in the investigation into the “bad Santa”. So many times it grates me when a hero tries to cut out the heroine because it’s “too dangerous” or when the heroine rushes into an obviously dangerous situation just because they have to prove their independence. Molly and Lucas don’t fall into that trap. They’re both strong characters and they accept that about each other while at the same time not letting the other steam roll them.

The story line itself was cute and extremely satisfying to read. Though Jill Shalvis already has me clamoring for Caleb’s story.
